Review
Shoot Em Up is basically a porno for action junkies. There is nothing but hot naked women and insane gun fights in this over the top action flick obviously made for action film aficionados. Shoot “Em Up may have intense fight sequences and sexy scenes, but the film never takes itself too seriously, making it’s utter brilliance surmountable.
The visuals are graphic, and refreshingly original. It was obvious director Michael Davis didn’t feel anything was off the possibilities charts in his creation. There is never a dull scene available as the film is shot manic and fast paced. Each moment is passed with clever dialogue or white knuckled fight scenes, that never loses it’s sense of the poking fun at it’s self. This film has all the elements adored in action films and has magnified them ignoring the rest of the pesty scenes in action movies. What is the result? Sex, violence and massive entertainment.
Cast
-
Clive Owen as Smith
-
Paul Giamatti as Hertz
-
Monica Bellucci as Donna Quintano
-
Stephen McHattie as Hammerson
Clive Owen plays the silent brooding sarcastic type to a T. He is absolutely hysterical and sexy as the reluctant hero of this twisted film. He was a great lead for this film and his chemistry with Monica Bellucci was undeniable. The villain, his evil counterpart, played by Paul Giamatti was the criminal version of Smith and their crude banter made for one impressive action film.
Ratings and Suggestions
This is a movie with a deranged killer for hire chasing down a man who is running threw the movie in gun fights with a baby in his arms and a hot hooker that has become it’s surrogate lactose mother. If this premise is too out of the world for you then don’t bother, but if you can catch the humour in what Shoot “Em Up offered and enjoy gregarious violence, this is undoubtedly a film for you. It was one of the most fun flicks I caught this year and will soon be in my DVD collection. Three Out Of Four Stars.
